SEX RING BUST RESCUES ENSLAVED WOMEN

ARRESTS IN ASIAN PROSTITUTION RING
BUST COVERING BAY AREA COUNTIES, USA
www.mercurynews.com - A three-county prostitution ring involving dozens of immigrant Asian women was broken up last week after a yearlong investigation, Bay Area police said. Eight people have been arrested and nine women detained. A team of 125 law enforcement officers from 14 agencies assisted Hayward police in serving search and arrest warrants at 10 locations in Alameda, Contra Costa and Santa Clara counties - the culmination of Hayward police uncovering a sophisticated ring of brothels where scores of immigrant Asian women were exploited, an official said. Officers from different police departments participated in the raids, as well as members of the California Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Internal Revenue Service, U.S. attorney’s office and the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.

The county district attorney’s office would not release the names of those arrested or the locations of the brothels. An undercover investigation ensued, establishing that the home was a brothel and part of a larger ring of brothels. Investigators estimate dozens of women have been brought to the United States from Taiwan and China, and then cycled through these brothels. Eight people were arrested for their suspected role in operating the ring and nine adult females, some possibly victims, were detained and provided with support services. Along with crimes associated with operating brothels, those arrested also may face charges involving human exploitation and trafficking, the district attorney’s office said.

Officials released details about a large-scale bust of a Bay Area, USA, in relation to a prostitution ring that sexually exploited Asian women, investigators said. They are trying to “determine the degree to which human exploitation and trafficking is involved in procuring and enslaving the women recovered from these brothels.” If we can not see the Divine in all living beings, we do not respect others; we are inclined to make business by means of cheating or exploiting others; we do not take in consideration any morality or other standards and we are only interested in our greed for money and power.

WHAT DO THE VEDIC TEACHINGS TELL US?
We may have made so much technological progress and have numerous facilities added to our comforts of life, yet we can still see so many people suffering in this world. This is primarily because money, and people who are greedy for money, rule the world. Not everyone is cruel, but who cannot see how the misery of many people in this world is caused by the greediness of others? The perverted politicians and rulers in various countries have created so much trouble that most all of the torment of people who are poor, starving, or even being slaughtered or enslaved into prostitution to do the wicked bidding of others, has been due to the unending selfishness and greed for money and power. Do you think this is the way of a truly progressive world? We can plainly see that it is increasingly becoming more godless and thus more hellish. If this trend continues, society will lose its moral values and respect for life.
