GADDAFI ORDERED MASS RAPE AS A WEAPON

GADDAFI ORDERED THE RAPE OF
WOMEN AS A WEAPON OF WAR
www.telegraph.co.uk - The use of the worst crime committed against women, and implemented almost as a “policy” is making worldwide headline news in the past few weeks. It is the case in Libya, where allegations of such war crimes have surfaced against Gaddafi.  Gita Saghal, a women’s advocate and formerly a campaigner for Amnesty International told the BBC “rape is used as a weapon of war and it’s about power... we know in Libya women have been speaking out”.  Luis Moreno-Ocampo, the chief prosecutor for the International Criminal Court (ICC), said rape was a new aspect of Colonel Gaddafi’s repression.  He has said that he has evidence that Muammar Gaddafi, the Libyan leader, ordered his soldiers to use rape as a weapon of war.  He is also looking into allegations that security forces were given medication to enhance their sex drive.

Moreno-Ocampo said he was also looking at possible evidence that pro-Gaddafi security forces had been given medication such as Viagra to enhance their sex drive.  “We are planning to add additional charges on rapes because we are collecting more information about Gaddafi’s personal involvement in the attack in the use of rape as weapon to control civilians,” he said.  At the same time, Libyan officials hit back angrily at accusations that Colonel Gaddafi personally ordered the rape of hundreds of women as a weapon of war against rebel forces.  Libyan diplomat Mustafa Shaban told the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva that the government was “the victim of a widespread aggression” and blamed the news media for that.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) investigates a new aspect of the repression organized by Muammar Gaddafi against popular revolts: ordering mass rape of women. The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court says it has proof of Libyan soldiers have received similar medicines to Viagra to enhance sexual crimes. Rape in armed conflict is one of the weapons most commonly used, and until the Second World War; rape was considered “an unavoidable reality in times of armed conflict.” They behave worse than if they were Rakshasas, raping single women or wives of others.

WHAT DO THE VEDIC TEACHINGS TELL US?
The defenseless creatures, according to Brahma-samhitā, are the cows, brāhmanas, women, children and old men. ... Those who are helpless must be taken care of by their respective guardians; otherwise the guardians will be subjected to the punishment of Yamarāja, who is appointed by the Lord to supervise the activities of sinful living creatures. The assistants, or messengers, of Yamarāja are likened here to vultures, and those who do not execute their respective duties in protecting their wards are compared to serpents. Vultures deal very seriously with serpents, and similarly the messengers will deal very seriously with neglectful guardians.
